Cognitive Computing, Cultural Computing and Behavioral Computing

It’s interesting to see that our personality has many facets. The culture impacts on the way we behave or respond to a particular situation. Even culture has great impact on our thinking patterns. Culture is about ideas and behavior of people. Here behavior is typically about the way they do certain things or respond in a particular scenario. Culture can be defined in many ways. It is a field of anthropology. In short culture is the way people behave, interact and network or link with others. Cultural computing deals with computational aspects of culture. That typically means how two cultures are related, computing similarity and differences or even computing impact of one culture on the other culture. It also deals with behavioural impact of culture or individuals. AI and ML based narrative or cultural representative systems can also come under purview of cultural computing. There can be even cross-cultural interactions. It can even deal with building profound understanding how information technology can impact on culture. Modelling the culture and cultural impact is main part of cultural computing. Behavioural computing deal with many aspects of behaviour. Interestingly many areas like sentiment analysis, cognitive computing and also gesture analysis converge to behavioural computing. Cultural and behavioural computing impact every decision we take in our lives. Right from which news to read, which product to select to which job to take and whom to meet. Decoding human mind and predicting what he/she will do has always been quest for researchers. I am sure it is not possible without cultural computing and behavioural computing. While computer engineering is joining hands with psychology new areas of research are emerging. It has been offering the new research direction to overall AI and ML and that takes AI studies confined to classification and thought of replacing or behaving like human to actual empowerment and building complimentary personalized systems to get best out of every individual. In my opinion that is going to be the next technology wave and destination of converging technologies. When I started simple study about these areas I could see many opportunities and many questions.
